WATCH REVIEW
The Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch, reference 310.30.42.50.01.002, continues the legacy of the iconic timepiece that accompanied astronauts on their historic NASA missions to the moon. This model pays homage to Omega’s pioneering role in space exploration and is celebrated for its timeless design and exceptional craftsmanship. The watch features a 42mm stainless steel case with a sapphire crystal glass on the front as well as on the caseback. The case is complemented by a brushed five-arched-links-per-row steel bracelet with a secure folding clasp, providing both durability and comfort. The black dial of the Speedmaster Moonwatch is a classic design with subdials at 3 o'clock (30-minute recorder), 6 o'clock (12-hour recorder), and 9 o'clock (small seconds). The black anodised aluminium bezel ring shows a tachymeter scale with the famous dot over 90. Powering the Speedmaster Moonwatch is the Omega Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 3861, which is a modern evolution of the legendary manual-winding movement that accompanied astronauts to the moon. This movement offers exceptional precision and reliability, enhanced by its METAS certification, ensuring resistance to magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss. The watch is water-resistant to 50 meters. The case back with sapphire crystal allows a view on the beautiful Calibre 3861. It is engraved with the words "THE FIRST WATCH WORN ON THE MOON," highlighting its historical significance and the pioneering spirit of space exploration. This Moonwatch remains a timeless symbol of adventure and achievement, making it a coveted choice for watch enthusiasts who appreciate its historical significance, robust design, and enduring legacy in both space exploration and horology.
